GIVING VOICE - EMPOWERSURVIVORS 2017

"Giving Voice" is a annual conference put on by EmpowerSurvivors and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.


This event is also for those in the community that support survivors and are looking for ways to learn about childhood sexual abuse and prevention. With 1 out of 4 girls and 1 out of 6 boys being sexually abused by the age of 18 years and over 93% of those being raped and molested by people the child knows and trusts it is more important then ever for us to come together as one .

 This year's conference is being held in Stillwater,MN on Saturday , November 11, 2017 and we have a great day planned! All tickets include a free boxed lunch, great speakers, vendors and we will end the day with our powerhouse panel answering the questions you need answers to! 

Keynote: Mike Pistorino
If you haven't heard of Mike he is a survivor and advocate that is taking the speaking forum by storm. Mike doesn't hold back in his passion of breaking the silence of childhood abuse, prevention and education. Mike will take you through his life that has gone from victim to survivor to ultimate thriver. Mike is a firecracker by nature and you won't want to miss this one!

Speaker : Jane Straub 
Jane is a victim assistant advocate at the Jacob Wetterling Resource Center and Gundersen National Child Protection Service. Jane has a passion for educating the public on the ACE study and teaching on the resiliency of the trauma survivor. 
The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study (ACE Study) is a research study conducted by the American health maintenance organization Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Jane is set and ready to take us all through a shortened version of this study and the resiliency of survivors!

Speaker : Tara Walker Lyons
 Tara is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse , advocate, wife and mother of two that is kicking butt in her home state of Montana! Tara has taken herself on the road to educate others on the realities of childhood sexual abuse, the importance of breaking the silence that surrounds abuse and how it is so important to have laws that support the education and prevention of childhood abuse. Tara has recently been working on passing legislation in her home state that would require training and classes to all adults on the prevention, signs and symptoms of child abuse. She is one young lady you don't want to miss!
